Dog Training Systems

Most dog owners wish that they could have more control over their dogs. With dog training collars, you can get the type of control that you want, i.e., better control with more comfort, and making sure that you are leading your dog more effectively. You will find that there are basically two types of head halters that are available for dogs. One type is known as the gentle leader and the other type is known as the Halti.

Though both dog training collars are useful, the gentle leader has an advantage because of its better design that ensures better control. The design is simpler, as it settles behind your dog’s ears and then goes around the muzzle. Under the dogs chin, it is connected with nylon straps. But do not confuse it with muzzle. The dog can be controlled simply by using of general leader to control his nose. This is sure to make your dog follow.

The second type of dog training collar is the Halti. It has been made following the same type of principles as the gentle leader. It is designed to follow the contours of a dogs face and is positioned well down on the dog’s nose. The Halti gives you maximum steering power and control. The particular advantage of the Halti is its unique on-off muzzle-closing effect: when the dog attempts to lunge forward or attack, his jaws are closed by the slip ring. When he is relaxed or friendly, he can pant easily and act just like a dog. The soft material and careful design and construction ensures the Halti is comfortable and in many dogs can create a pronounced calming effect.

Regardless of which dog training collar you decide to use, be sure not to ever yank the dogs head away from the direction in which he is heading, nor should you ever let the dog run to the end of the leash forcefully while using a collar. Always use a gentle pull in your direction along with a treat, if necessary. This will help prevent vertebral damage in your dogs neck and upper back.

So, when you are selecting dog training collars, get some information on their proper use and use some common sense too. You and you dog are sure to make a happy pair!
